Dog Got It !

Dog Got it! No, Dad Got it!

I thought those presents were for Mati and I, but they weren't. I don't get it. Look at each of the cards below. Do you see one biped on any card? No, not a one! I think they are for us. An Authentic Patriots jersey, a Red Sox edition Monopoly, and a GPS Collar??? Hmmm, I'm not sure about that one, maybe it's for Dad so he doesn't get lost... but I'll play Red Sox Monopoly!

But anywho, Dad want's to thank Betsy, Lori, Hope, & Heather for the gifts and for a yummy lunch too (which by the way we didn't get any of...)

The shirts you saw on the last blog were from the "FL Couzins" - our Aunt Angela, John, and the catz Boots, Cutlass, and Minnie.

Well, at least I get to go for rides with Dad in the car a lot these days, even if I never get any presents at all ever. Well, there usually are Christmas presents, and sometimes Birthday presents too, the Easter presents, the occasional surprise present, but outside of that, never ever ever!

By the way, Mati is doing well - of course. And me? More hot spots. Just when we thought 60ml a day of Aloe was good...not to mention the bath, lotions etc...I got two more hot spots. I hate hot spots. I hate drinking aloe, oh, and I hate hot spots. Did I mention I hate hot spots? Dad's changing my food now. He says a home cooked or partial home cooked meal will help. He is looking at Timber Wolf Organic, Wellness, and Honest Kitchen foods. I hope he makes up his mind soon. I want a steak.

Well, that's all for now, Happy Sunday, Love "I hate hot spots" Rocky

So Rocky, how do you feel about hot spots? Woo, woo, just kidding. That stinks that none of the presents were for you. I think presents should only be for you and Mati!

Hi Pippa Cutie, Mati here. I'm glad that you don't know what hot spots are, because that means you don't get them.

Hot spots is a generic term for an area on the body that is like a rash, where it gets ichy, sore, and can be hot to the touch making us quads bite or lick the area to soothe it. All the hair in that area falls out. Then it gets worse, the more you lick, the worse it gets. And this can happen in minutes - only a few licks and it becomes inflamed, and / or bleeds, then we have to lick more. Then it can become infected and usually does. It's a bad cirrle of events.

The key to getting past one is to not lick at all and let it pass. But if it's infected, then you need meds. To prevent that, Dad has to wash it with a Chlorehexidine based solution every day and keep it clean. Usually it passes in 4 to 5 days. Not this time. When you get a hot spot on the tail, it's very hard to heal. It takes time and because it's on the tail it's 1) easy to get to irregardless of a anti-bite collar, 2) bleeds easy because your tail hits everything when you wag it and 3) you wag your tail A LOT MORE because it bothers you... the way a cow or horse wags their tail to swat away flies. Doing this just makes the recently healed bleeding start all over again.

It's vicious and frustrating. Somehow it's transferred to humans because Dad keeps saying how he's pulling out his hair. Poor boys. Last time Rocky had one on the end of his tail, it took 21 weeks to heal. Dad nearly went insane. I wasn't here then, but I have heard the stories of how Dad kept yelling at Rocky every time he moved, trying to keep his tail still and following him around the house to hold his tail when going through door ways and such.

Hot spots are "hot issues" for Dad, which is why I wrote so much here. I hope they get better real real real soon.

Thanks Pippa, xoxoxo, Mati

dad, may we suggest that you take Rocky off of any ingredient that he's had before and try a meat & a starch, like sweet potatoes and see how he does on that? That was the first step to see if food changes can help. We ended up taking our dear lost General off all grains and no beef becasue it turned out he was allergic. We ended up going to a raw diet after all of the food problems he had. It turne him around almost overnight! He had been chewing his feet raw & had very runny bowels all the time until the new diet - helped his HD too.

Hi Rocky...I get hot spots during July & August & had 2 of them this year...it always freaks my mom out cuz she likes to keep my skin all nice & clean...she should have been born a kitty....but then I had to wear an AWFUL blue collar to keep myself from scratching...its somewhere on my blog...maybe August sometime..I looked like a sailor!

Hope you feel better soon Rocky..don't scratch..even though I KNOW you want to!

Randi

I have given you two the community blogger award.

Thanks for the info Mati. I do lick my fur a little bit - but all the fur doesn't fall out, and it doesn't bleed. Perhaps they are tepid spots?

Hi, Rocky and Mati! Pippa sent us to your blog--nice to meet you! Sorry to hear about your hot spots, Rocky. For what it's worth, we really like the Honest Kitchen; we eat Embark on occasion, and it's grain free. Anyway, we hope your hot spots go away soon. Hope you get some presents soon, too!

Hi Rocky,
We hope that those stupid hot spots let up and leave you alone as they really seem to be bothering you. Did you work out who the GPS collar was for?

Poor thing! We remember when our brother Thor (the dobie) had a hot spot on his leg. He was a real trooper, but we know he hated it too. Hang in there Rocky!
