Cherry Blossoms in Washington DC

Dad says that 2007 marks the 95th celebration of the original gift of the 3,000 cherry trees from the city of Tokyo to the people of Washington, DC in 1912. Wow! They sure are old trees!

Here I am in front of the Jefferson Memorial and the Tidal Basin

Here, Mati and I are enjoying the view in front of the Washington Monument...

And then here is Dad with us...

And here is another of the Monument

Gosh, it sure was crowded down there! There were thousands of people there at 06:00 taking photos just like us!! It was tough going! But we got some great photos with thanks to Robin Burkett and her assistant Cai of PawPrints Photography of the D.C. metropolitan area (www.pawprintsphotography.com).

Rocky and Mati! Those are GORGEOUS pictures! We thought at first maybe a squirrel took the one of you two and your dad. Ha roo roo roo! We've got to let the Beagle Babes in Japan know about this - they've posted some great pix of their cherry blossoms, too. http://jazzanddixie.blogspot.com/

Joe: thank you! we love them
Ao4: thanks too. I think the squirrels were too afraid to come out of the trees! We took a look at Jazz and Dixie's page - Beautiful Cherryblossoms.

Hope your blossoms have survived the cool weather - it's been pretty rough here. Down to 28 at night!

Hi Rockford,
Thanks for dropping by to look at our cherry blossoms. Our Dad told us about the gift of 3000 cherry trees to Washington D.C. but he couldn't remember how long ago it was. Your pictures are so beautiful. We just love the one of you and Mati under the cherry tree looking out over the lake.
