The USS Indianapolis

While Dad was in Cape Cod, he took this picture at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. This is the mast from the USS Indiapolis.

On July 30, 1945, the USS Indianapolis sank after being hit by a Japanese sub. Of 1,196 men on board, approximately 300 went down with the ship. The remainder, about 900 men, were left floating in the water and were accidentally discovered 4 days later - only 316 survived.

keeping busy...

Hey all... while Dad is busy, we have work to keep us busy.

First, here's Mati inspecting the underside of the sofa for dust bunnies... I think she's taking this job a bit too far...

And then we are on security detail... notice who's really doing his job, and who is ...*ahhem*, sleeping on the job!

No really, I'm ok.

Dad keeps asking why I put myself in tight positions when there is plenty of space to lay down...

I don't understand - and Mati seems to have no trouble with it. Although she does step on me alot. That I don't get!

Well anywho, Happy Queen's Day (Queen Juliana (1909-2004), Netherlands). If you would like to see a live Cam feed of the Sittard Square - there are 3 live feeds at this site: http://www.webcamsittard.nl/index2.php/camera-2/ Camera #2 has multiple shots you can select and zoom in on via the little boxes. It's pretty cool. I think I could live there - and watch all the people go by in the square. I love watching people. It's my job. I think they would love to see me as much as I would them!

Cherry Blossoms in Washington DC

Dad says that 2007 marks the 95th celebration of the original gift of the 3,000 cherry trees from the city of Tokyo to the people of Washington, DC in 1912. Wow! They sure are old trees!

Here I am in front of the Jefferson Memorial and the Tidal Basin

Here, Mati and I are enjoying the view in front of the Washington Monument...

And then here is Dad with us...

And here is another of the Monument

Gosh, it sure was crowded down there! There were thousands of people there at 06:00 taking photos just like us!! It was tough going! But we got some great photos with thanks to Robin Burkett and her assistant Cai of PawPrints Photography of the D.C. metropolitan area (www.pawprintsphotography.com).

Ah huh....

When Dad arrived home tonight ... this is what he found on the floor.

The strange thing is... When Dad went to the fridge, the box of biscuits was still on top of the fridge. Hmmm. Where did this box come from Dad wondered. "Hmmm" he said. Then he looked for his car keys. "Did you take the car out and go buy biscuits again?" he asked. I could not tell a lie. I just looked in the other direction like I didn't know what he was saying. Then he continued "You remember when you took the car out twice in one day and ate 3 whole 1 lb boxes of Milkbones?" "And to think I was going to treat you and go to the District to take photos with the Cherry Blossoms tomorrow."

I hope we go, I would hate to miss out on that. The one question I have is - why does he think it was me and not Mati??

This is just sad....

What was Dad thinking? That's all I'm going to say. Sheesh.

We awake from our long winter's nap...

Here's Mati's doing her headless dog imitation. I don't get it, it must be a Husky thing!

But Dad's been keeping a sharp eye on us. Mati and I haven't been fearing guuud. Aahhhrooo? Even Dad's been under the weather. He stayed home a day and a half last week and even yesterday too. We didn't even go on Mati's Forced Road March (FRM) for 3 whole days straight! (Mati was very very angry. She sat at the front door talking up a storm. She wouldn't even go out the back door. I can tell, she didn't understand, but I did.) Dad didn't even go to church. Then Mati stole Dad's sandwich while he was making it. Wow! Even I don't do that. At least I get my sandwich material from the fridge when Dad's not home. Dad got mad and took the sandwich back - Mati tried to bite Dad. I felt very sad, like I did something wrong. Dad came over and assured me I was ok. I still felt sad.

Thankfully we went on the FRM this morning, then he went to work today, but he came home and took a nap with Mati and I. He was dog-tired. I stayed right next to him in case he needed something.

Anyroo, Mati and I are doing ok now. Spring has sprung and we have new outside missions to work on. Mati and I were sitting in the Sun late this afternoon - it felt like it was 80 degrees outside. Wow! What a change.

Well, all for now, and we'll see what missions come our way.

Haroooooo to all!
